Instructions
Sugar Cookies
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a stand mixer bowl, beat the butter for about 1 minute. Add sugar and beat again until it becomes light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla until everything is combined. Don’t forget to scrape the sides.
  3. Add the flour mixture into the bowl and mix until combined.
  4. Divide the dough into 3 balls. Put one ball onto a parchment sheet. Put another parchment sheet onto the ball. Roll out the ball into 1/4 inch thickness. Put on a baking sheet. Repeat the process with the rest of the dough. Stack the dough on top of each other. Refrigerate the dough for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Remove one of the dough from the refrigerator. Cut out the cookie and put it on the parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  7. Reshape the dough into a ball and repeat the steps on number 4.
  8. After the cookies are cooled, decorate with royal icing. Let dry for 3 hours. Check the top before stacking the cookies.
Royal Icing
  1. In a stand mixer bowl with a whisk attachment, mix all the ingredient together for about 5 minutes. The icing should form a ribbon when you lift up the head of the mixer. Add more water if you need it to be thinner. Add more powdered sugar if you need it to be thicker.
