Ingredients
Red Velvet Cake
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 2 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 tsp vanila extract
Cream Cheese Frosting
- 1 lb cream cheese, room tempe
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanila extract
- 4 cups sifted, powdered sugar

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray 2 9 inch cake with baking spray.
- In a stand mixer, mix together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder.
- In a medium bowl, mix together oil, buttermilk, eggs, vinegar, food coloring, and vanilla extract.
- Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Scrape the side of the mixing bowl so everything is incorporated.
- Pour batter into each pan evenly. You can use a scale to make sure they are even.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes and check with a toothpick. It should come out clean. Cool completely before frosting. Level off the top of the cake and save the crumbs for decoration.
Frosting
- Place all the ingredients in a stand mixer bowl. Mix together for about 5 minutes, scraping the sides of the bowl every 2 minutes. The frosting should be light and fluffy.
