The family are in town and you need to make breakfast fast and everybody has to love them. What do you make? Nutella Christmas Tree!! Any treats that starts with “Nutella” is sure to be a hit!
I always feel like the starting from November, it’s off to the races!! Decorating, baking, Christmas Party, family coming into town. There’s just a lot to do and so little time! So in the middle of the hustle and bustle, I like to have baked good that easy to make but still delicious to eat. Here’s the solution. Puff Pastry!!
Frozen Puff pastry is a great shortcut for bakers everywhere. It’s saves time and it saves a lot of steps. If you are going to make this on Christmas morning, you do need to wake up an hour early because the puff pastry do need to thaw. It’s just the joy of being a baker, right? 😛 Here’s a play-by-play of making the Nutella Christmas Tree.
After thawing, put one of top of the other and then you can cut the puff pastry into the shape of a tree. I was looking for my baking ruler in my drawer, but I couldn’t find it. So I used the next best thing. Parchment Paper! Save the sides of the tree so you can make a star for the top.
Here’s what the shape of the tree will look like. Remember to make the tree trunk. Make slits on each side of the tree and then separate.
Next comes the best part. It’s NUTELLA time!!! Spread some Nutella of the bottom part of the tree.
You can add almonds or you can omit it. I like it because it gives it some crunch to the bite.
Gently put the other puff pastry on top. You want to try to line them up so you can twist them on the next step.
Here’s another thing you can do with the kids (If they’re awake already!) You want to twist each of the slit twice and kind of press the ends down.
Once you’re done you can put the star on top, and brush all the surface with an egg wash.
In about 20 minutes, you and your family can enjoy this beautiful Nutella Christmas tree. Yum!!!
Tips for making this Nutella Christmas Tree:
- You need to really thaw the puff pastry. You’ll know it’s thawed when it’s pliable.
- Use the back of a spoon to spread the Nutella.
- Every oven is different so you want to check at minute 18 if it’s ready.
- This is best when eaten hot out of the oven.
