So you know how there are 5 different love languages? There is Words of affirmation, Acts of service, Physical Touch, Receiving gifts and Quality time. Personally, I think there are 6. Love of sending food for other people. 🙂
I just love sending food to friends and families because my love language to others is through giving food. Whenever someone is happy, I send food. If someone is sad, I send food. When I thank someone, I send food. I feel like I can express my love for others better not through words but through food.
So for Easter, I wanted to send a dessert for a friend of mine. He told me that his family is allergic to dairy. Now this is where the adventure begins! I’ve never done any baking that has any restrictions before so I searched high and low for a recipe that looks delicious and finally found this.
At first I was a little hesitant to make it. I’ve never tried recipes with no milk or eggs before. However, the more I read the recipe the more I was intrigued by it. So I baked it and boy was it moist! It really just melt in your mouth!
Cake and my fork.. Happy Days 🙂
This cake is good on its own. But every now and then, I like to find a friend or a match for the things that I make. Something that will make it to the umpth degree. Now for those of you that has dairy or egg allergy, you can sprinkle a bit of powdered sugar on top just to make it pretty. For those of you who has no allergy, and yes I do see the irony in this, you can pour half and half or milk on it and mmm… mmm… good …
This way you don’t have to make 2 dessert! You make everybody happy. What a time saver, right? Oh I forgot the mention one important thing. One bonus that dessert has? It is really easy to make! Scroll down and you can see how simple it is to make it.
Here are some tips that I have for you when making this cake:
- When a recipe calls for hot water, I usually boil mine instead of using the tap.
- Take extra precaution when you are pouring the hot water. Bring the speed on your stand mixer to 2 and very slowly pour in the water so the batter won’t be splashing all over you.
- This cake can last up to 3 days at room temperature. Just remember to cover it with plastic wrap.
Happy Baking!!
