MERINGUE COOKIE WREATH

An edible wreath!!!  A great centerpiece for Christmas and it’s really delicious and easy to make!!  Have a very Merry Christmas!!

Marry Christmas!!!!  As you can probably tell, Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.   It’s when I go all out on decorations and baking.  For baking, I do my 12 days of Christmas Baking.  If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s where to start!!

Now for decorations, I usually try to make my homemade ornament and decorations every year and this year, this is my new one!!

So easy and so cute!!!  I learned how to make from Jamie Costiglio blog and it’s easy to make and fast, too!!  But now that I have the tags, I miss my wreath.  So why not bake a wreath?!  ?

Meringue is one of those dessert that is very versatile and easy to make.  You can also make it into any shape.  The possibilities are endless!!  To make a wreath, you want to trace a circle on a piece of paper.  I used a plate that would fit on my baking sheet.

When you have the shape, put the circle under the parchment paper.

To make the meringue, you will start with a stand mixer with the wire attachment.  Beat the egg whites and salt until it becomes foamy.

Add the cream of tartar then beat again until it becomes soft peak form.

While the machine is on, add the sugar 1 tablespoon at a time.  Then keep beating until it becomes stiff peak.

It should look glossy and if you tilt your stand mixer, the egg white should stay on your whisk.

Add the vanilla extract.

Take out about 1/2 cup of the batter and add red food coloring.  This will be for the berries.  Then add the combination of green and food coloring to the bowl and mix again.

To make it easier to pipe on the parchment paper, I usually put a dollop of meringue on the edges so that the parchment won’t be lifted up when you pipe the meringue.

Using the flower tip, pipe the meringue around the circle that we made earlier.

Ta daaaaa!!!  I squealed a little when I saw it!!!  Too cute!!!

To make it even livelier, add mini dots all around with the red meringue that was made earlier.

Very Christmas-y!!  Bake for about 1 hour and leave it in the oven for a few hours or leave it overnight to dry.

Add a beautiful bow and you have a fancy wreath for your Christmas centerpiece!!

So from my family to yours, we would like to wish all of you a very Happy Holidays!!!  May your Christmas be Merry and Sweet!!

Happy Baking!!!
