Brownies and Bars

MAPLE BLONDIES

MAPLE SYRUP month!!!  A month of sweetness is about to start!  This Maple Blondies is so subtle in it’s sweetness but it’s still delicious!!  Make your coffee to enjoy this Maple bars!!

Before I discovered Blondies, I always loved having a Brownies.  But then I discovered Blondies and I think I like it better!!  But I’m for sure not going to say no to a Brownies either!!  😜

Blondies has pretty much the same ingredients as Brownies. The difference is in the cocoa powder.  Now with this Maple Blondies, the difference is the addition of the maple syrup.  It gives a different kind of sweetness to the bar that I just really like.

Now there are a few interesting facts about maple syrup.  Did you know that it takes about 40 gallons of maple tree sap to make just 1 gallon of maple syrup??   That takes a whole lot of waiting for just 1 gallon!  About 4-6 weeks.  But, thankfully it doesn’t take that long to make this blondies!!  So let’s heat up the oven and let’s make it!

In a stand mixer bowl, mix together the butter, eggs, vanilla, brown sugar, baking powder and salt.  Then add in alternatively the flour and the heated maple syrup.

What does alternatively mixing in flour and wet mixture means? The usual method is a third of the flour, half the milk, a third of the flour, the remaining milk, and finally the remaining flour.

So it goes…

1/3 FLOUR

1/2 LIQUID

1/3 FLOUR

1/2 LIQUID

1/3 FLOUR

So you start with flour and ends with flour.  Keep in mind to scrape the bowl midway through this process so that the flour that might get stuck in the bottom or the sides of the bowl can be incorporated.

Once the mixture in nice and smooth, pour it out in a 8×8 square pan and bake for about 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Mmmmmm ….  It looks and smells amazing!!!  Your kitchen will smell so good!!!

Now I know you want to cut into it right away, but patience is a virtue, my friend!!!  So let it cool completely for at least 1 hour to let it set so that that it will be easier to cut.  After 1 hour, here is your reward!  Enjoy!!

Happy Baking!!
