Happy Sunday!! Celebrating Easter month is one of my favorite things to do!! It brings hope and a new life, especially in the midst of this heavy time. Here’s an Easter Basket Cake with Mini Chocolate Eggs!!
I have to stop saying this but this is one of my top 10 favorite cakes!!! Every time I bake a new cake, I just keep falling in love with them!
Just for this Easter month, all the creations will be made with the same Chocolate Cake recipe, but made into different things. The cake itself is my trusted Chocolate cake and chocolate frosting recipe that I made in August 2018, when I made Chocolate Cake Pops. The straw that’s on top of the cake is made with vanilla frosting that I colored with a little bit of green gel food coloring
So, in February, I started taking cake decorating classes at a Cake supply store near me. It was really fun and I learned so many things. It really gives me an extra boost of confidence. One of the cakes that we made was basket cakes. I was so happy and excited that I was able to make a cake that I’ve seen so many times on Pinterest!!
The piping that you will need to make for the basket weave is Piping tips #47. As for the grass and the straw on top, I used piping tip #233.
There are so many videos on how to make a basket weave cake and my favorite one is from Wilton. It’s a great cake to learn to make because it’s not overly complicated. It does takes time and patience but at the end, it will be worth it!!
