There are lots of things that every baker needs. Different desserts needs different tools and supplies. But here are the basic, basic things that a baker needs to make a basic 8 inch decorated cake. Maybe next time I’ll do pie or cupcake wishlist!!

I would start with one set first. But if you love to bake, I would get 2 or 3 sets. That way you don’t have to wash any tools when you have to measure dry and wet ingredients. Use this to measure out the dry ingredients.

2. Measuring glass
Measuring glass is used for measuring wet ingredients, like milk, buttermilk, honey. There are measuring glass that’s made of plastic, but glass is better because of 2 things. You can heat up the liquid in the microwave and residue doesn’t stick in glass like plastic does. So this one is my top choice.

3. Pastry Brush
Two uses for the pastry brush is to brush butter whenever you are coating your baking pan and to brush away crumbs. A great tool to have in your drawer!

4. 8 inch round baking pan
There are many sizes of cake pans that are available. Round, square, rectangle, and we’re not even talking about the millions of shapes that exists in the world. There’s one for every holiday and every character!! But for starter, most recipes uses 8 inch cakes so it’s a great basic pan to have.

5. Kitchen Aid mixer
Now, this is my favorite of all favorites!!! I call my mixer my baby!! Well, I mean my other baby aside from my boys!! It is an expensive item but it is worth it. You can make meringue, bread, buttercream, all kind of things that needs power. You can also multitask, unlike having a handheld mixer that you always have to hold. This one is made by Joanna Gaines and I just love the color. Be on the lookout because there’s usually lots of sales during Christmas!!

6. Spatula set
Offset spatulas are your friend!! This is a great tool to have to spread icing on cake or cupcakes. And I like having a few set because it saves time in between!

7. Cooling Rack
I would buy about 4 of this. It’s not very expensive and it’s great to have a lot around to cool cakes and to invert them.

8. Spatulas
Here is the spatula that I have. I have the red one at home and I really like them. I suggest buying this one whole piece spatula instead of the one with the wooden or separate handle. I had one of those and the top part popped off when I was scraping. So from then on, only a one whole piece spatula for me!!

9. Turntable
Turntables are a must for making cakes. It makes the cake turn around instead of you going around!! And it’s on sale!! What an amazing price!!

10. Scraper
So scrapers are also a multipurpose tool. It can scrape the sides off cakes, cut dough, clean surfaces, or scooping bread unto the countertop. A great tool to have in your drawer.

11. Piping Bags
Piping bags comes in many sizes and many types. There’s the reusable ones and the disposable ones. For starter, this reusable ones are a great alternative. A 12 inch is like the Goldie Locks size of them all. 10 inch might be too small, a 16 inch is too big and a 12 inch is just right!
